Woody, W1SL painting his crank-up tower.  Woody was a wire-antenna guru for many years.  Then to complement that success he decided to erect the tower and a Mosley beam !

Woody previously was known by the amateur radio call W1YCO.  Then he was able to get the vanity call W1SL, where the suffix "SL" matched the initials of his name Sherwood Lewis.

Woody's "SL" also matches Sierra Leone in Africa, where he got to meet Dave Heil.  Dave operated from Sierra Leone for a number of years while with the U.S. Embassy there.

Being a member of AMSAT, Woody works DX via amateur radio satellites.  He acts as a mentor to other CTDXA members and to school kids interested in amateur satellite communications.  The next time you see him, ask for an explanation of Iridium Satellite flares.
