Don Wilson
OSHA Authorized Construction Safety Trainer

Don retired from Travelers Insurance Co. in January of 2003, after 30 years with
the
company. For the past 27 of those years, he
worked as a Construction & Civil Engineering and Marine Specialist. He worked in a supervisory position in the Home Office and was
also assigned to a
field territory.

In 1995, Don published an OSHA 10-Hour training program, which included
visual aids, props and workbooks used to train Travelers clients.
(3)
Initially, Don presented the OSHA 10-Hour training
as train-the-trainer for
Travelers engineers. Then he
presented sessions for clients of Travelers, such as for an owner, the Pensacola News Journal.
They wanted certain employees to collectively monitor safety of
contractors working on their premises. An
example of sessions for a contractor included 10-Hour and 30-Hour training put on
for Marshall
Contractors of RI, as they worked building the IBM Clean Room manufacturing
facility at Manassas, VA. Another
example was a session for a building construction contractor in upstate New York.

Don has enjoyed considerable construction related teaching experience,
including, windstorm preparedness seminars in Florida and a seminar for the County
Commissioners of Pennsylvania about avoiding wind damage to their courthouses.

To wear additional hats, Travelers appointed Don as the Disaster Response Coordinator for
engineering
assistance to the Claim Dept., following the 1989 San Francisco
earthquake. He continued this position following Hurricane Andrew, where in
Florida he worked as a Project Manager to supervise a team of engineers
assessing building damage for the Travelers Claim Dept.

Previous work experience included being a highway and bridge construction
technician in WV and later as an intern for the State of CT, doing bridge & highway design work
and on-site bridge inspection. This was followed by Computer System Engineering work for IBM and then
the 30 Years at Travelers.
(7) Mr. Wilson received his bachelors degree in Building Construction Engineering from Hampton University. Further study was in structural engineering at the University of Hartford, and then he entered the graduate program in Civil Engineering at the University of CT.
